Our Mission
At EMVC we hope to bring a more traditional feel to Veterinary Medicine. Veterinarians historically have been just another member of the community. The aim was to help animals and people and provide guidance and empathy. The industry has grown rapidly and in that growth, it can feel like we have gravitated away from the core principals that Veterinary Medicine was founded on. We hope to combine the efficiency of modern medicine with the personal connection of traditional Veterinary Medicine. The aim of EMVC will be to treat people like people and not a number, and to share our abilities, both locally and abroad. Once a year the staff of EMVC will go to a foreign country and provide free veterinary care for animals in need and invest in the people's lives in those countries. The clinic will use a portion of the profits, as well as donations, to support this dream. This year we are providing free vaccines and general animal care in Guatemala, Central America.
Veterinarian/Owner
Dr. Caleb Thomas was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended the Oak Mountain Schools, The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), and Auburn’s School of Veterinary Medicine, where he graduated with honors. Dr. Thomas spent part of his childhood in Colombia, South America, where his parents were missionaries. Dr. Thomas's desire to own a veterinary clinic has grown in recent years, as he has seen a change in the veterinary industry and hopes to bring back a culture of fair pricing and excellent care.
Why the goose on the EMVC logo? It is a Celtic Christian symbol that says God disrupts our lives and takes us to surprising places.
Practice Manager/Veterinary Assistant
Ms. Subin You was born in New York City and raised in New Jersey, just outside of New York City. Subin is of Korean heritage and speaks Korean. She is a Biology major from Rutgers University. Whilst graduating from Rutgers, she worked as a Veterinary Assistant for nine years, two of which were in emergency/critical care. In 2020, she moved to Alabama and started working for a general practice veterinary clinic, where she met Dr. Thomas. Subin is excited to help run a family business and take care of people and their pets.
